Glass Panels
The first time I scored and successfully broke a piece of glass on that score line, I was hooked. I enjoy how light affects the glass, and incorporate bevels in most of my pieces. I work with both copper foil and lead came, but definitely prefer the latter.
Lamps
All the lamps I have produced have remained with family, as functional art.
Hot Glass
I have been fortunate to live in a region where some of Canada's great glassworkers practice. One is Lee Brady and I have taken a couple of workshops with him to acquaint myself with techniques of glass fusion. This opened up a new world to me, where suddenly the overlay of colours added depth and variation to the piece. The only limitation is imagination (and access to a kiln and patience for all those times when things go terribly wrong).
Delving further into the potential of glass, I spent a weekend with Al and Linda Hiebert at their hot glass shop. Here I was introduced to the glory hole and the blow pipe, and produced some lovely paper weights. This is definitely a direction I would like to explore further.
